Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Band Way uses cookies and similar technologies (such as your browser’s or app’s local storage) on the website at bandway.app and in our apps, including the sharing portal at share.bandway.app.

1. Our approach

We keep tracking to a minimum and we do not use advertising cookies. The marketing website (bandway.app) uses only what is needed to make the site work and remember your preferences, plus cookieless measurement that sets no cookie and builds no profile of you: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, and the download page additionally reports which build was offered and which one you chose. Those download counts are sent to PostHog with a throwaway identifier that is discarded when you leave the page, so they cannot follow you between visits or be joined to your account. Our apps additionally use optional analytics and diagnostics to help us fix problems and improve the product, and you can turn those off (see section 3).

2. What we use

NameTypePurpose
bw-langLocal storage (essential)Remembers your chosen interface language. Stored on your device only.
Sign-in sessionEssential (apps)Keeps you signed in to share.bandway.app after you log in with your email code.
PostHogAnalytics & session recording (optional, apps)Product analytics about how the apps are used. In the desktop app this also includes session recording, which captures how you interact with the interface so we can diagnose issues. Used only when analytics is enabled.
PostHogCookieless counts (website)On the download page only: which build was offered and which one you chose. Sets no cookie and creates no profile. The identifier used is generated fresh on each page load and discarded when you leave, so these counts cannot follow you between visits or be joined to your account.
Cloudflare Web AnalyticsCookieless counts (website)Page views and visits on bandway.app. Sets no cookies and collects no personal data.
SentryDiagnostics (optional)Collects crash and error reports so we can fix bugs.
Google FontsThird-party requestFonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may process technical request data such as your IP address.

3. Types of storage

4. Managing storage

You can clear cookies and local storage, or block them, through your browser settings, and you can disable analytics and diagnostics from the app’s Settings. Clearing local storage will reset preferences such as your language; the Service will continue to work.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
